Ubuntu Usplash on start up breaks into normal verbose mode

Now before I begin here are the necessaries:

-Asus EEE pc 1000he
-Ubuntu Netbook Remix
-this had previously worked flawlessly

So I had a usplash theme that worked on start up nicely with verbose and such. Out of no where it started breaking the theme during the start up. So I was going to fresh install anyways, so I wiped the drive with a new install of UNBR.

However, the same is happening again, this time I've managed to see where it breaks.
Before the break, it reads something like 'resuming device' then it breaks. Then on the screen it loads something like 'kjournald' and it says something about 'commit interval 5 seconds' and continues to load in verbose without a theme, no errors.

My main concern is how can I eliminate this, if anyone's had a similar problem, or how can I trace back to where the problem may be. I'm wondering if the resume device is making it think it's waking up from sleep or hibernate, in which it not. This is a full power down and then power up.

Thanks for reading if you've gotten this far, hope you can help me out.
