  • Ubuntu Mouse Settings Issues

Does anyone else feel that using the trackpad on laptops with Ubuntu running is a lot less smooth than windows? The cursor speed sort of ebbs and flows and changes its smoothness constantly, sort of like randomly throwing a car in the wrong gear.External/USB mice work perfectly, problem is just with the trackpads. Also my trackpad seems to be ultra sensitive on Ubuntu. If my palm so much as comes close to it while typing (say in the URL bar), it throws the focus elsewhere and I end up typing the rest elsewhere. Very annoying. Is this specific to me and (more than a dozen) laptops I'm seeing thi

  • Ubuntu Mouse Question.

I was planning on purchasing the Ubuntu Mouse in the Canonical Store, but I have one question: Is it "wireless"? By "wireless" I mean like plug n play, no install needed, is this true? Or does it come with a installation disk you use? :confused:The description does not provide the information I need. :SAlso, sorry If I did not post this in the appropriate section.

  • Ubuntu MOUSE SLOW after some event

After waking from suspend my ubuntu mouse movement keeps very slow. It seems that it has half of the frames in the movement. But is only the mouse. I had ubuntu 9.10 and now ubuntu 10.04. My processor is fine and the memory too when this problem happens.I have read many post with this problems since 2005 but none with an answer. If i unplug the mouse and replug it stays with the same problem.

  • Ubuntu Connect-Debounce

I recently purchased the Asus EEE PC 1000. I have installed Ubuntu 8.10 with the custom array kenel (http://array.org/ubuntu/setup-intrepid.html) I have also installed EEE-Control which shouldn't matter but just in case (http://greg.geekmind.org/eee-control/). Everything is working as intended. USB's work (can connect external HD, as well as flash drives). Camera, bluetooth (for my mouse). My issue:When I insert an SD card onto the built in card reader (Non HC, its a 1G lexar SD card, also tried PNY 1G SD Card) I get this message output: "hub 1-0:1.0: connect-debounce failed, port 5 disabl

  • Ubuntu connect-debounce error

i got the wierdest messages the other day. i went to shut down a Dell Inspirion 1545 laptop, and about halfway through the little yellow/orange bar the screen went black and it said:"xxx.xxxxxx hub 2.0: 1.0 connect-debounce failed port y disabled" (xxx.xxxxxx being a different number string each time, and y being a port number)it gives me that message for 3, sometimes 4, ports--3 times (port 2, port 3, port 1, port 2, port 3, port 1, etc.). Once I got that while starting up. Near the end of that colored bar, it gave me the black screen, and then this big long list of stuff it was che

  • Ubuntu Mouse stopped working after plugging in Flash stick

I plugged a cruzer 2.0gb flash stick into the PC running Ubuntu 10.10 and the mouse stopped working, it also did not mount the USB drive. Keyboard still works, I can navigate with the keyboard. I tried to do a bit of research but it's difficult with just a keyboard because I have been spoiled all my life with the convenience of a mouse, during the research I found someone who said to gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf and comment out usbmouse and usbkbd so I have done so, but it did not fix anything even after a reboot. I have disconnected the USB mouse and memory stick, rebooted, plugged th

  • Ubuntu Mouse flickers + won't work!!!

  • Ubuntu mouse doesn't work

I'm running Maverick Meerkat 10.10 netbook remix on an asus 1015PE eeepc. This problem started yesterday. When I start the computer, during the period where there's just the black screen with the blinking cursor in the top-left, strange text begins to fill the screen: ^[[2~^[[2~^[[2~^[[2~^[[2~^[[2~^[[2~^[[2~^[[2~^[[2~etc. sometimes it shifts for a moment to a new black screen where this text appears in the center. After this, ubuntu loads, but the mouse trackpad doesn't respond. I login and shutdown using sudo shutdown -h nowAfter a few tries it will boot with a functional trackpad, but it's ba

  • Ubuntu Mouse Issues!

My mouse is driving me insane! I am not very 'tech savvy' with correct terminology etc... so bear with me. I have also searched through all the topics I can find related to mouse issues but can't find one that solves my problem. 1. When I do any searching on the net the mouse works fine if I am clicking on things like menues, topics etc, however if the page has any type of 'scripting' etc the mouse kind of 'hovers around' on the page. 2. If i am let's say on facebook - all works fine until I open or load any applications such as games etc. Firstly loading times are absolutely insane. secondly,

  • Ubuntu Mouse not moving for two minutes or so on startup

I "upgraded" from 10.10 to 11.04, and discovered that the desktop no longer has a top or bottom panel (so no access to anything...). Tried finding the answer online with no luck (several people had the same issue, but no answers that worked for me - Is 11.04 a beta release?).Gave up and wiped/re-installed 10.10Then, my mouse does not react for a full two minutes after the desktop is shown, then works fine. In the boot log, I noticed that the mouse was initialized waaaaaaaaaaay late in the sequence, so tried to figure out how to get it to intialize earlier, with no luck (I'm a linux-U

  • Ubuntu Mouse single click and firefox bookmarks

all, just a couple of minor difficulties, I can't find where to change from double to single click on the mouse buttons (I really don't like the double click thing) and for some reason the "Import and Backup" button in firefox, which is now supposedly in the 'library window' of 'show all bookmarks' is missing in my version.I've sent a question to their forum, just wondering if anyone here had the same problem?I read a critical report of Unity on 'the register' but it doesn't seem too bad. Its taking some getting used to but so did gnome/ubuntu when I first used them.Carlos.Sorry, for

  • Ubuntu Mouse pointer 11.04

I am new to Linux. Loaded Ubuntu 10.10 on an old gateway laptop about 1 month ago. After sorting out a few problems, it was running great. I installed 11.04 yesterday and did away with 10.10. Ther is one problem left that I can't figure out. When I hover on something on the top panel, when the message box shows, the mouse pointer goes away. If I touch the mouse, it shows up again. this happens on other links also. It did not happen in 10.10. This is a laptop with a touch pad mouse. I tried changing mouse preferences but nothing seemed to work. Any ideas would be appreciated.

  • Ubuntu Mouse dead spots

After I installed yesterday the new Ubuntu version (11.04), I found myself having some problems with the mouse, more precisely I started having mouse "dead spots" on the screen. So, when I click or try to make a selection in the "dead spot", nothing happens.First, I thought it was a mouse problem, but then the same thing happened when I tried doing the same thing with my laptop's touchpad. Also, my laptop is also moving more slowly since the upgrade. Any ideas how I can solve my mouse problem and why my the computer's performance is slower?P.S. I'm pretty new to Ubuntu :)

  • Ubuntu Mouse / Keyboard freeze problems

I'm having problems with my mouse and keyboard on pretty standard ubuntu install of Ubuntu 10.10 AMD64. It seems to work fine with three harddrives running, but as soon as I add a fourth the OS goes frugal. Basically, the mouse and keyboard just don't work at all, but other processes continue running. What log files do I check for this?I did a dmesg | egrep mousewith nothing prevalent towards the hang up. Also the xorg log didn't seem to have any errors with the mouse and keyboard. Just some initializationDo you think this could have anything to do power consumption of the last drive? Let me k

  • Ubuntu Mouse/Internet/Sound/etc. Not Working On Windows 7 After Grub2 Installation

I installed Windows 7 after I had Ubuntu on already. This obviously overwrote the MBR so I had to reinstall Grub2 (I'm using 10.04 Ubuntu). Before I installed grub2, everything on windows 7 was working fine but then I followed this: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...035999&page=15 (the first post on page 15). I got no errors when entering the commands and when I rebooted my computer, I was glad that grub2 loaded and I was able to now boot into Ubuntu. But then I booted into Windows 7 again and realized that only my keyboard works (its plugged into PS/2) but my mouse, internet, and soun

  • Ubuntu Mouse driver for minimal installation

I am trying to set up a minimal 10.04 installation - my reason for so doing is that I want to tailor it to exactly the packages I want (and a British keyboard), then create custom Live CDs. My attempts with the standard installation all yielded .isos over 700Mb, which of course would not fit on a CD.I found the minimal intallation from https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/MinimalCD, downloaded the 32 bit flavour of 10.04 and burned it to CD. I then did a clean install this on a standby machine (not shared with any other os), and followed the instructions from the above site. The base

  • Ubuntu Mouse stuck in a strange mode

My mouse clicks are stuck in a strange mode. I now have to hold down Ctrl and/or Shift to make it select like it used to (and I am getting tired of pressing those for every click). If I don't press one of those keys, I just get a hand cursor that can re-position a window, but not select things. This started when I installed the sugar-emulator-0.88 via the Synaptic Package Manager (Ubuntu 10.04). The Sugar emulator runs in a Zephyr window, and one uses Ctrl-Shift mouse clicks to shift between emulator window and native window. So, I suspect some bug got the mouse stuck in an odd-ball mode.I trie

  • Ubuntu Mouse pointer keeps rolling around

there, I have a little problem with my Ubuntu lucid. I don't even really know how to explain this in the right way. So I just gonna use my title: the mouse pointer keeps rolling around. Small problem really, but really annoying because my eyes tend to distracted by the pointer.
