Is there an internal build of CSM that supports SLES 11?Or when it is planned to be supported? As per documentation last CSM 126.96.36.199 doesn't support SLES11. Is that correct?
according to the changelog, 3.2.1-21 now supports sles 11 sp1. Is the same true for3.3.0-7 ? (i don't see a relevant entry about sp1 in 3.3's changelog...)
FYI:GPFS v3.2.1 requires imake from the xorg-x11-devel package. This package is not available on the SLES 11 SP1 image/dvd. But xorg-x11-devel is available on the SLES11 SP1 SDK image. Thus you must download this image and add it as a software repository to your SLES11 SP1 installation.A "zypper in xorg-x11-devel" will install then this package.hthHajo
It seems that the Systems Director Common Agent v6.1.2 installer application does not seem to detect a SLES Linux 11 installation, checking only as far up as SLES 10 and therefore stops the installation.Only way to get around this is to temporarily change the contents of the SLES 11 file: /etc/SuSE-releaseHas anyone else seen this?
I have fresh IDS 6.2.1 on windows 2008R2 SE.And I have problem with it, because of common agent - I try to install common agent into SLES 11 SP1 x64 (OS installed into Vmware virtual machine) and the error is return to me - the distribution you are trying to install is not supported by this packagethe following distributions are supported rhel4 rhel5 sles10 sles11 esx35 esx4Actually, as I understand from documentation, the SLES11 sp1 even x64 supported... I recently installed SLES 11 ( GNOME) on my test box - which happens to be a desktop machine ( Dell Dimension E310). Everything went fine until the very end when the setup proceeded with hardware configuration. The set up program began probing my graphics card and all seemed usual ( like past SUSE installations - both OpenSUSE and SLES) but when it was finished I was left with a black screen and the white mouse cursor. I could move the mouse around the screen and that is all. The only way for me to exit was to power off. I had the box attached to a CRT monitor (NEC MultiSync 4FG).I decided to
I am trying to set up a NFS directory on SLES11 called /home/partimag. On SLES10 I had created the same directory. I use /home/partimag to store back up images of my desktops using the Clonezilla software. With SLES11 I am having trouble getting my client to mount to /home/partimag. I used the YaST2 NFS Server utility to set up my directory. Below are the SLES 11 default exports options that YaST2 creates.fsid=0,crossmntro,root_squash,sync,no_subtree_chec kSLES10 had fewer options including "ro" which I changed to "rw." I was able to mount to /home/partimag on SLES10 when I
I would like to do mass SLES installation in my lab. Each server machine contain 2 DVD driver and one floppy drive.I have SLES 11 dvd, plan to install all the server using autoyast.I tried following way:1. created a mini boot CD, edited isolinux.cfg file like install=cd:/// autoyast=floppy:///autoinst.xml. 2. kept the autoinst.xml in floppy. 3. Load mini boot CD into CDROM1.4. SLES 11 DVD load into CDROM2.I power on the server, booted with mini boot cd and autoyast setting reached 90%. I got the error window prompting me to insert CD1.What i am doing wrong?. Any help.
I just build a couple production SLES 11 machines and I'm using an ssh client to connect. However the ssh client forces me to use keyboard interactive login. How can I turn this off so I can use the normal username / password?
First off I'm very new to linux.I'm trying to install rdesktop (downloaded rdesktop-1.6.0) on SLES 11 and I'm running into a few problems.First it requires the following package "xorg-x11-devel-7.2-103.i586.rpm" which I downloaded. After I downloaded it tells me it has all these other dependencies when I try to open it. Looking at Novell's docs the package is actually on the opensuse CD media, but apparently not on my SLES CD.

I have just installed Mysql on SLES 11 (64 bit) and would like to use the Mysql Administrator and Mysql Query Browser. There doesn't seem to be download RPM file for Sles 11 64 bit on the Mysql web site, does anyone know where I can find one? I have downloaded the generic mysql-workbench-oss-5.1.18a.tar.gz file but I am having difficulty installing this on SLES 11, are there any SLES 11 installation instructions?
I am a business partner. I really need the IBM Installation Toolkit to support LVM and SLES 11 but as of 11/1/09 it does not. Just hoping this feedback gets to IBM development for this product somehow. LVM is pretty fundamental for me and my customers.
we are running SLES 10 SP2 on our pseries p655 7039-651. It's a 8CPU machine with two hardware partitions. I'm trying to install SLES11 on the 1-CPU test partition via tftp/bootp. While this works with SLES 10, the installer image of SLES 11 is too large. The p655 transfers the first 12MB of the image, then fails withERROR: Large client image. But Not allowed to split!!!FINAL File Size = 12566528 bytes. The problem is exactly the one described in detail here: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=350214Novell closed the bug as they say it's a firmware issue. Yeah, I know. There are ton's of references to this problem, including this one from Novell: http://www.novell.com/support/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=7003097&sliceId=1&docTypeID=DT_TID_1_1But, no joy. I cannot get the VNC server to produce more than a gray desktop. I suspect a graphics issue but I am not enough of a Linux guy to know how to tell. When I use yast to look at the Graphics Card and Monitor (using ssh) I just get a brief flash and no graphics settings display. When I run gdm I see this:gdm3968: WARNING: GdmDisplay: display lasted 0.180068 secondsg

On ppc64 systems running SuSE SLES11 there is an entry under in the procpseudo-file system, /proc/ppc64/systemcfg. It is readable (perms = -r--r--r--)but the information is in binary form. Obviously what is needed to make sense ofthe data layout is the "struct systemcfg" that is mentioned on the web by various peoplethat use AIX or RedHat on ppc. However, although the kernel source and headers rpms areinstalled, I am not able to find any (...)/systemcfg.h file at all on SuSE SLES11.Does any one know what the proper way on SuSE SLES 11 is of obtaining informationfrom systemcfg, most notably the

HelloI am trying to perform database 11G R2 RAC installation on SLES 11. I have working shared storage. Is there any recommended step-by-step guide that I can follow to get working rac db that will be supported by oracle and that will follow the oracle recommended practices ? I have a Suse Linux Enterprise Server 11.There are 4 Windows Server 2008 Virtual Machines on it that I need to configure. The problem is I remote into the Linux Server using UltraVNC then I load up one of the windows Server machines and begin configuring.Suddenly I will lose connection through UltraVNC and be unable to reconnect. If I go and physically visit the server I cannot get anything on the screen, no amount of key presses or mouse moving will solve this. It's almost as if the machine is off.The only way to get it back is to hold in the power button until it shuts down then start it back
i've got the problem, that every "you" update destroys my settings in /boot/grub/menu.lst.I don't wish to have a "vga=" and want to have a "crashkernel=" setting. It' no problem to edit the file according to my targets, but when i run updates with yast and a kernel update is processing, then all my settings are destroyed for the new kernel and SLES sets his own "default" settings for the kernel (OS) to boot. Is there a possibility to control these defaults settings, so that they will always be set for new kernels when updated?

Hello, I recently wanted to upgrade a SLES 11 SP1 server from MySQL 5.0.67 installed with Yast to a latest version. This update is not available for SLES so I tried to install manually. I used the MySQL 5.5.1 for SLES 64 bit from the site. Before installing I uninstalled the 5.0.67 version using Yast and then installed the new version using rpm command. Now I have a issue with MySQL not starting and giving the "Starting MySQL.....The server quit without updating PID file (/var/lib/mysql/linux.pid)" error. I found explanation that this is not working because of the my.cnf file. When I

I see Novell has finally released SLES 11. http://www.novell.com/linuxCan we expect Oracle 11g officially supported in the next 6 months? Any elaboration would be helpful.
I have a linux system (SLES 11) running SAMBA 3.2.7 and GPFS 3.2.1-15 - this combination fails to create usable SAMBA shares for Windows users (they can see the share, copy into and out of the share, but cannot execute from the share or save into the share). I've read through the forums, but am now confused: is there any combination of SAMBA and GPFS that is currently working? I'm unsure whether to upgrade (or downgrade) GPFS, SAMBA, or both? Any help?
HiWe're planning a rolling upgrade of our SLES NSD servers to SLES 11 SP1 in which we would like to use the native kernel multipathing instead of the LSI RDAC driver. However, when doing that, the devices will get a new name (something like this)/dev/sdb -> /dev/dm-0/dev/sdc -> /dev/dm-1Is there a way to inform GPFS that the device name for an NSD has changed on a specific NSD server? Thnx
Alternate subject: I'm confused about GPFS subnets...First, let me describe our environment. Two Power 5+ clusters large enough to use for HPC running AIX 5.3 and GPFS 184.108.40.206. Each cluster has its private HPS network and both clusters share a 1 GigE network. Those networks are defined with private IP addresses. The clusters share a SAN. The NSD servers are distributed evenly and have HPS connectivity. In order to share GPFS file systems accross both clusters, we defined three GPFS clusters: one includes all the NSD servers and the two other are clients of the first. All three gpfs clusters h

I would like to create two virtual servers on a SLES 11 host. I plan on using SLES 11 as the guest OS in both virtual servers. I intend to have one virtual server as a low traffic web server and the second virtual server as a "mirrored" web server to an off site web server.I have experience with both Virtual Box and VMware Server 2.0 ( free version). What do others recommend I use for my virtualization solution - Virtual Box or VMware Server? I am more comfortable with Virtual Box however I am not opposed to using VMware Server if that would be the better choice for my scenario.

we are running SLES 11 where an iscsi tape library isattached. To load the tape in a slot we are using forinstance the command #mtx -f /dev/sg1 load 2 which is doingvery well. But after a server's reboot the device name of the loader is now/dev/sg4 or /dev/sg5 I mean it is dynamic. Is there any way tohave a fixed device name for all times?THX for any solution!Rainer
