FYI:GPFS v3.2.1 requires imake from the xorg-x11-devel package. This package is not available on the SLES 11 SP1 image/dvd. But xorg-x11-devel is available on the SLES11 SP1 SDK image. I recently installed SLES 11 ( GNOME) on my test box - which happens to be a desktop machine ( Dell Dimension E310). Everything went fine until the very end when the setup proceeded with hardware configuration. I have just installed Mysql on SLES 11 (64 bit) and would like to use the Mysql Administrator and Mysql Query Browser. There doesn't seem to be download RPM file for Sles 11 64 bit on the Mysql web site, does anyone know where I can find one? While this works with SLES 10, the installer image of SLES 11 is too large. The p655 transfers the first 12MB of the image, then fails withERROR: Large client image. i have tested the newly released SuSE Enterprise Server 11. We need this OS release, because of some SAN implementations, so SLES 10 is not an option.I tried to install an oracle 10gR2 and oracle 11gR1 database, but the installer does not start. I have a Suse Linux Enterprise Server 11.There are 4 Windows Server 2008 Virtual Machines on it that I need to configure.The problem is I remote into the Linux Server using UltraVNC then I load up one of the windows Server machines and begin configuring.Suddenly I will lose connection through UltraVNC and be unable to reconnect.If I go and physically visit the server I cannot get anything on the screen, no amount of key presses or mouse moving will solve this. It's almost as if the machine is off.The only way to get it back is to hold in the power button until it shuts down then start it back
i've got the problem, that every "you" update destroys my settings in /boot/grub/menu.lst.I don't wish to have a "vga=" and want to have a "crashkernel=" setting. It' no problem to edit the file according to my targets, but when i run updates with yast and a kernel update is processing, then all my settings are destroyed for the new kernel and SLES sets his own "default" settings for the kernel (OS) to boot. Is there a possibility to control these defaults settings, so that they will always be set for new kernels when updated?

Hello, I recently wanted to upgrade a SLES 11 SP1 server from MySQL 5.0.67 installed with Yast to a latest version. This update is not available for SLES so I tried to install manually. I used the MySQL 5.5.1 for SLES 64 bit from the site. Before installing I uninstalled the 5.0.67 version using Yast and then installed the new version using rpm command. Now I have a issue with MySQL not starting and giving the "Starting MySQL.....The server quit without updating PID file (/var/lib/mysql/linux.pid)" error. I have a linux system (SLES 11) running SAMBA 3.2.7 and GPFS 3.2.1-15 - this combination fails to create usable SAMBA shares for Windows users (they can see the share, copy into and out of the share, but cannot execute from the share or save into the share). I've read through the forums, but am now confused: is there any combination of SAMBA and GPFS that is currently working? I'm unsure whether to upgrade (or downgrade) GPFS, SAMBA, or both? Any help?

I would like to create two virtual servers on a SLES 11 host. I plan on using SLES 11 as the guest OS in both virtual servers. I intend to have one virtual server as a low traffic web server and the second virtual server as a "mirrored" web server to an off site web server.I have experience with both Virtual Box and VMware Server 2.0 ( free version).
