  • Raid Driver Problems

Ok guys I just built a new dual Xeon server on an Intel V5000VSATA motherboard. Now the Raid driver works fine on initial install after I do the linux dd commad and on some updated kernels if I copy the driver to /lib/modules/<new kernel>/updates and then do a /sbin/depmod -a <new kernel> and then make a new inird. Now I have to put Kernel 2.6.19.1 on the box and I can't get the driver to work even though it's suppose to work for all 2.6 kernel. Anyone have an idea on how I can fix this. I will post the error I get on boot when I am back in front of the box.

  • Intel RAID driver

Installed RHEL5 on a Intel DQ35JO motherboard. Was able to get by the initial problem of acpi? The new problem is that I can't find a RAID driver to use the onboard sata drives in a RAID 5 configuration? I'm using a WD80G as my OS drive on the IDE controller of the mobo. I want to install (3), 250GB sata drives as a seperate RAID 5. The motherboard bios lets me setup the raid, but the REDHAT OS doesn't recognize the RAID as being present. I don't want the OS to be part of the RAID. Does anybody know of the correct driver to use for this?

And of course, I know even less about RAID in linux. So if I wanted to create a RAID setup on my system what would I need to do (I have a RAID controller on my motherboard).I have one 30GB hard-disk. Would I just need to buy 1 more 30GB HDD? Can I use a standard IDE cable? What?s all this about strip mode, mirror mode etc? And of course, how would I set it all up in SuSE Linux 8.2pro?Any (I mean ANY) help/advice appreciated?
