I have installed LibreOffice Base, but am having a number of problems with it. The first problem is that many of the form widgets look ugly, they do not come close to their OpenOffice counterparts.The second problem is that I am unable to edit any of the forms !!I cannot open the Form Design / Form Control / Form Navigation toolbars.This seems to be a major flaw. I've programmed in Visual BASIC 6 for about 5 years now. As you know, that language is on its way out, and it doesn't compile for Linux or Mac anyway. So I started learning REALbasic, which is very VB-like with some added advantages such as the ability to program with no dependency files. I've recently installed Ubuntu 10.10 and Libreoffice 3.3. My Base is very very slow. I've already tried changing the JRE to the Oracle/Sun latest version and the problem is still there. The problem doesn't seem to be in the file, since I can open it on my Windows 7 Libreoffice, without any problems. Please help me, solving this bug is important for me to definetely migrate from Windows to Linux.

I am taking an intermediate programming class, after a somewhat long hiatus. One of the first projects is a somewhat simple assignment that takes a date from the user, and checks to see if it is valid, using classes. I have been working on it for a while, and i seem to be making no progress lately. My current problem is that as soon as i start the program, the program halts, saying that "variable month1 is being used without being defined". I cannot figure out what my problem is, but i suspect that it is something simple. I understand how to create the program, i just get tripped up
I am trying to construct a 2 way paging with PIC Basic and two types of microcontrollers PIC16LF84A and PIC16F88. I have two parts of my system, a sensor node and a transponder. The sensor node has a 434 MHz transmitter (TLP-434) and a 315 MHz (TLP-315) receiver(RLP-315). The transponder has a 315 MHz transmitter and 434 MHz receiver (RLP-434). My link from the sensor node to the transponder works properly. But my link from the transponder to the sensor node does not work properly. I know what databases are used for and I have my own software program to manage a db but I was wondering what benefits office programs such as MS, or OO or LO have to offer over just the average user created software program database. About 7 years ago I created a form focused database in MSA, but never got past the form and what benefits it offered. I'm very new to this VB programming (I've been looking for sample code for a while but I can't seem to find anything decent) I wanted to write a simple script to be able to send a bunch of junk mail addresses at once to the blocked senders list. In other words highlight about 20 messages and click a button so all the names go the junk senders list. I'm learning Python programming and designing a medicine tracking database. Currently I'm using LibreOffice Base to build the database. Eventually, however, I'm going to build my own application GUI using Python to deal with the data. LibO Base uses HSQLDB by default. I was wondering if in the future I need to migrate to my own Python application, is it a better idea to start using SQLITE from the beginning, or is it better to stick with HSQLDB and everything will be just as fine?
