all if you read the pc gaiming news it looks like Anet the folks behind guild wars and all its expansions.Are planning one last hurrah/expansion called Eye of the North that will tie up loose ends before moving on to Guild Wars 2.A game that will be set a few centuries in the future of the GW universe.Now i don't have much hope for there ever being a linux client for the original guildwars and its expansions, but maybe just maybe we can make some head way with getting a client for the sequel.Sure we have wine and and the helpful tutorial by Jarn for the original but i have a feeling that GW 2
I thought I'd try out this Wine thing and get Guild Wars running. After starting the process myself I found a script that will do it automatically. Unfortunately I had already messed things up enough that I can't get it working. Would some post how to completely uninstall Wine and Guild Wars so I can start fresh with the script I got?

When I start guild wars through wine it would open just fine.but then recently when i started it through the terminal it loaded but there is no game screen just music..... like the window for it just doesnt load or something... i hear music but i dont see the game.anyone know how to solve this?
Is there any comprehensive setup info' available on this problem?I've been about the web to various wiki's & forums, they have no info that will help me with this apparently common problem for both ATI & nVidia GPU's.I installed the CVS with no real problems. I'm running Ubuntu Maverick (10.10) and running Guild Wars through the latest Wine 1.3. Everything was working fine until I upgraded my RAM from 1 gig to 2 gig. Now I just get a black screen on login. I've tried changing the regedit, OffscreenRenderingMode = "backbuffer" but nothing is working. The only thing that works is when I got into the wine config and turn pixel shader off, this shows me the login screen and is a really good FPS but the game is unplayable because there is no chat menu and the graphics are awful.Why is my new RAM change affecting the game to show a black screen
Ok, I have two questions.1: I have installed wine on my computer and I am trying to run Guild Wars. I used the method here http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=283122 that is supposed to be able to run Guild Wars. I used the updatewine.sh method. When I try to run Guild Wars I get an error message saying "Guild Wars has detected that your video gard may not be support Guild Wars...." I have recently installed Guild wars onto Ubuntu 9.04 using wine and had it working perfectly. Then today i minimized the window to check my e-mail on the other desktop then returned to the original desktop to find Guild wars was not there and now every time i click to run it all that happens is that i get the Grey downloading screen which reaches 100% then closes as it should then rather than the log in screen popping up,nothing. Recently I bought Guild Wars Nightfall and was wanting to play it on Ubuntu (in an attempt to further diminish my use of Windows), so I installed it on Windows, copied the files over to my Ubuntu partition and tried to run it through Wine. I've read up a few posts about GW but I wanted to start a new one as I didn't really think those had anything to do with this. Ok so here goes.Guild Wars. It's gorgeous. The install was flawless. I'm only on the first 2 discs, no expansions yet. There's only two annoyances. I got a little problem with wine and guild wars.I got Ubuntu 8.04 installed with the newest wine version.every time i want to start up guild wars with wine i only see the guild wars mouse cursor.When i wait a little longer guild wars closes itself.Now there are 2 possibilities:1. Guild Wars isn't compatible with wine.2. Guild Wars isn't compatible with 8.04.now for #1: Guild wars is indeed compatible with wine:http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guild_Wars_on_Winenow there is only one option left and that is #2. Im trying to fix a computer for my son in law but it wont start up. Its an emachine 420 2.60 ghz intel celeron processor 80 gb hard drive. I noticed that when i switch it on i hear a clicking sound once from the processor and the fan is not moving. I hope i dont need a new processor. I am a newbee to this forum site and to Ubuntu. I am having problems with Guild Wars frame-rate. I had consulted with Guild Wars techsupport and they refereed me to a different cite. Techsupport told me that is was a frame-rate problem and they don't support Ubuntu. I have even tried WineHQ for help but on one has responded to my post yet. According to WINEhq Guild Wars runs fine. It did on Windows for me. I just got Ubuntu today after a year break, downloaded Guild Wars client, installed WINE. When I run the program through WINE (internet connected) it seems to be at something like.. 1fps. It doesn't load the main menu, it just loads the opening graphic very slowly. Have I done all the correct procedures? I'm on 9.10 by the way, not 7.10 like my avatar says.

i have a system which does not start. When i press the power button the front leds light up for a second and the system goes off. I was using my system and then all of a sudden it went off...realised it was the PSU so i changed it but after installing the new PSU the system wont start. Hello, i downloaded the xammp package and the install seem to work ok and at first i could start the msql service from the control panel but after i tried to setup the my.ini file it just wont start. Apache and the other services is working ok.I get this error message when i try to start from msql_start cant start server bind on tcp/ip port:invalid argumenterror. do you allready have another msqld server running on port 3306?I opend up port 3306 in the windows firewall and msql is also listed as exception so that should be ok.Im running xp servicepack 2, i got microsoft framenetwork installed.

I am trying desperately to get Guild Wars working in openSuSe 10.2. I have installed Wine and can get the install to go. I read somewhere that I need to put the following into the properties of the desktop icon, -dx8 -noshaders -windowed >/dev/null 2>&1but that is not working. Here's the deal me and some friends use teamspeak 2, when i was at windows everything worked perfectly, when i try to instal TS 2 client on Ubuntu it starts and im able to connect to the server, but here the problems start.The Sound notifications are "breaking" ,i cant another word to describe it only hear it by frames. My friends talking the same thing. And when i start to talk the green light pops up a litle after i start talking.I recorded my voice for testing, and its framing/breaking as well.Can anyone help me with this?

I have a system I use as a file server running Ubuntu 10.04. I don't have a screen hooked up to this system. When this system reboots, if there is no screen, X wont start on it. This then prevents me from using VNC to get to the desktop.If a monitor is plugged in at the time it boots, then everything works, and I can then remove the monitor. Hello, I'm kind of inexperienced with Linux. I've only been using it for a couple of years (mostly in class). I just installed it on my new desktop and am trying to get Guild Wars working on it. I recently decided to install unbuntu on my laptop. I already wiped out my hardrive and burned ubuntu the a CD.
